Shrine -
black lacquered wood, walnut & brass
unlimited edition exclusive for Nilufar

Asked to design candelabra, as a centrepiece for a table, Bethan plays with graphic shapes, inspired by classic 1950s fabrics, and explodes them into 3D forms.

Bethan is also interested in the connection between candles and worship, and explores the idea of the shrine, borrowing references from miniature temples created as portable altars.

Finally, the crisscrossed, wooden bows evoke Japanese interlocking construction, which is often found in temple architecture.
