In conjunction with Muf Architects and as part of Platform 2 at the RCA we were asked to take part in several Activities to try and engage the Local community with the area of new development in Barking. These ranged from writing workshops with Yemisi Blake and local school children, to making temporary installations in the library.
Collage Chair - we were asked to make a collage chair for the Library from an existing chair from the area. I decided not to use a found chair from Barking, but 3 1960’s coffee tables. From our previous decisions about the area it arose that most housing was 1 bed and that many would not have any table at which a child could work. The closest thing would be the coffee table, so I like the idea of creating the collage chair within the coffee table.
